The Monfragüe National Park is one of the 15 national parks that exist in Spain. It is located in the province of Cáceres, and is the first national park of Extremadura. Two rivers cross the park, the Tajo and the Tiétar. It was declared a natural park on April 4, 1979. With 288,644 visitors annually (2015), Monfragüe is the twelfth national park in Spain in number of visitors.
